Australian actor Heath Ledger dies of an overdose at 28Australian born actor Heath Ledger has been found dead on Tuesday 22 at around 3.30 pm at his Soho apartment in Manhattan, reports CBS news Showbuzz.
He 28-year-old actor is said to of died from a possible accidental overdose of sleeping tablets.
An autopsy on the actor today (Wednesday 23) was inconclusive. The medical examiner's office say that more tests are needed. The police don't appear to believe the death to be suspicious.
Despite there being a rolled up $20 dollar bill found on the floor near Heath's naked body, initial investigations show no visible drug residue found on the bill and no illegal drugs were found in the actor's apartment. The bill has of course been sent away to a lab for more in-depth analysis.
A lot of fellow actors, show business friends and fans have expressed their shock and horror at the tragic news.
But one radical religious group from Kansas has expressed a different view.
FoxNews.com reports that The Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, known for picketing the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq, has stated that they intend to protest at Heath Ledger's memorial services held in America (not any in his home country, Australia).
They will be holding signs saying that the actor died and is in Hell because he played a gay character in the film 'Brokeback Mountain'.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, speaking on behalf of the Westboro Baptist Church is quoted as saying:
"You cannot live in defiance of God. He got on that big screen with a big, fat message: God is a liar and it's okay to be gay".
